Another semester, another roster of classes:

Seminar In Ethical Issues 1:
Looking at several "hot topics" in contemporary ethics and considering philosophical and scriptural concerns. Business practices, caring for the poor, sex and reproductive technologies, abortion/euthanasia, war, and capital punishment are all on the menu. My first ethics class, and I'm excited.
Notable Assignment: 20-30-page research paper (my choice of topic)


Historical Theology Survey:
Tracing the history of the Church and the history of church doctrine from the post-apostolic era through the present. Lots of reading involved for this one. The prof's one of my favorites.
Notable Assignment: Research paper (my choice of topic)


Theology 3: Christ, Salvation, and Spirit:
Christology, soteriology, and pneumatology. Some challenging issues should make for some interesting discussions.
Notable Assignments: Research paper (pre-assigned topic), Scripture memorization, 'meditation journals'


I'm also participating in a reading group designed to give us a taste for philosophy-PhD work. We're reading Knowledge and Its Limits, in which the author is basically proposing a dramatic re-working of the way we do epistemology (philosophy of knowledge). One chapter in, and already my head is spinning. At least it's not graded, though. ;-)


It'll keep me busy (as always), but it should be fun.
